The soundtrack os the brazilian sitcom

In 1970, the "economic miracle" fulfilled the hopes of Brazilian society and the television started to play an important role in people's lives. Soap operas already gathered Brazilians in the living-room. Some neighbors would gather in the window of the most fortunate families, just to watch Irmãos Coragem. The soap operas soundtracks were well different of the ones produced nowadays. Som Livre (Globo's record company) would soon be created, as a label distributed by Odeon. Until then, Globo's soundtracks were released by Philips.

The tracks that compose the collection presented here were taken from those records. They are all Brazilian instrumental tracks of Globo's soap operas broadcasted in the year of 1970 (Pigmalião 70, Verão Vermelho, Irmãos Coragem, A Próxima Atração e Assim na Terra Como no Céu), all produced by Nelson Motta (the soundtracks). With compositions of Egberto Gismonti, Dory Caymmi, Marcos Valle, José Briamonte and Roberto Menescal, these tracks, created especially for the soap operas, brought many surprising moments, as the interpretation of Joyce for the "Bachiana nº5", of Villa-Lobos, or Elis Regina making vocalisations in the main theme of the soap opera Verão Vermelho, and the band The Youngsters (former The Angels), one of the pioneers of the instrumental rock in Brazil, in a groovy interpretation (that vaguely resembles The Meters) of the music "Tema de Kiko", composed by Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos.
